The Wolfsonian-FIU is a museum located in the heart of historic Miami Beach, within easy walking distance of the world-famous Art Deco hotels. Its fascinating collection of objects from the modern era (1885-1945) focuses on how art and design shape and reflect the human experience. The museum further engages the visitor by complementing its collection with thought-provoking discussions of the context and connection among its objects. We encourage visitors to explore the material culture of the past to better understand its relevance to the present. The 1960 Mediterranean-style warehouse was renovated and now is a museum. Some features are paintings, ceramics, posters, books, furniture, and architectural models.

The monument consists of bust of Carl Fisher mounted on a large keystone. This is a tribute to the man who helped establish Miami Beach by deeding many parks and public beaches to the city.

Miami Beach & South Beach

Three poolside theme rooms converge at the Shore Club’s Skybar. DJs rule at Crobar, featuring three state-of-the-art dance floors. Mansion is home to events like the Winter Music Conference and White Party benefits. If you’re into the gay scene, you can rave on till dawn at Score or Twist.

It is famous for beautifully restored Art Deco Hotels, trendy cafes and nightclubs, and of course, the beach.

This site was once part of a thriving sugar plantation owned by David Levy Yulee. Yulee was a member of the Territorial Legislative Council, and served in the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate after Florida statehood. The park contains the remnants of the once-thriving 5,100-acre sugar plantation: a forty-foot limestone masonry chimney, iron gears, and a cane press. The steam-driven mill operated from 1851 to 1864 and served as a supplier of sugar products for southern troops during the Civil War.

The St. Lucie Nuclear power plant features interactive displays and exhibits related to energy. Includes an energy treasure hunt, computer games, and a nuclear reactor model.

The FPL Energy Encounter in Fort Pierce, Florida is a popular attraction for families and schools alike that would like an educational insight into the world of energy as produced by Florida
Power and Light. If you are in Florida, near the area where the St. Lucie power plant is located, on South Hutchinson Island, you may be interested in stopping by and seeing what The FPL Energy Encounter has to offer. This facility is on South Ocean Drive on Hwy. A1A and the B Gate. Admission to the facility is free! If your party will have ten or more individuals in attendance, the FPL Energy Encounter does ask that you make reservations by calling 877-FPL-4FUN.

There are many different educational conferences and programs that are offered by this facility. FPL believes that children should be excited when it comes to learning about different types of sciences, energy, and similar types of topics. If you are an educator, or educate your children in a homeschool program, you may be pleased to know that there are different types of curriculum offered by this establishment for unique grade levels. In addition to getting kids excited about the wonderful world that awaits them when it comes to science topics, the coursework is approved by the educational department of the state.

When visiting the FPL Energy Encounter in Fort Pierce, Florida, you will be pleased to see that there are many different types of exhibits set up for your education and entertainment that are interactive in nature. Children and adults alike can actually take control of a replica reactor, learn all about how their homes are powered, and even play games that tests their skills and basic knowledge! One of the most exciting exhibits allows an individual to take part in their very own trivia based game show! If you visit this free Florida attraction, you will also be able to see giant magnets interacting, and even the history of electricity itself!

The African American Museum of the Arts is a not for profit arts facility dedicated to providing artistic excellence that reflects primarily the culture of African Americans and Caribbean Americans and providing opportunity in the fields of visual, literary and performing arts while encouraging interaction with community members through on-site and outreach exhibitions, presentations and performances.

More than 150 displays of carving, masks, and a photo gallery of famous African Americans.

Mounts Botanical Garden is a botanical garden in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA. It is Palm Beach County’s oldest and largest public garden with over 2,000 species of tropical and subtropical plants from six continents, including plants native to Florida, exotic trees, herbs, citrus, and palms. Its eighteen plant collections represent arid-land plants to aquatics to edible landscapes, and range from temperate North American trees to rare tropical fruits.

The Garden began as a 3.5 acre (1.4 hectare) County site for pasturing 4-H horses, named in honor of Marvin “Red” Mounts. Planting of tropical fruit trees started in 1954, and over the years today’s 14 acres (5.7 hectares) botanical garden has emerged. It also has a hedge maze. The biggest plant sales are in April and November. This Garden is also the location of where the Palm Beach Chapter of The Rare Fruit Council International meets every month for their monthly meetings. Mounts Botanical Garden is open to the public Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Features a pond with fish, turtles, and other wildlife. Visitors can also stroll the walkways lined with labeled plants.

Spanish River Park

There is a mile and a half of beachfront in this 95-acre park, which runs from the ocean to the Intracoastal. A good place to swim and sun, as well as fish, walk, run, canoe or kayak. Designated surfing area on north end. Directions: Take Yamato Road east to Federal Highway, south to Spanish River Boulevard, then east to Ocean Boulevard and a short distance south.

Facilities: Restrooms, showers, picnic shelters with grills, nature path and large playground. The boat dock is closed and in the process of being rebuilt. Ten pavilions are available for rental; call 561-393-7815. A beach wheelchair is available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Inquire at the Spanish River Gatehouse when you enter the park. Note: no nearby restaurants or cafes.

Lifeguards: On duty from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Rules: No alcohol, no pets. No fishing between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. when bathers are present.
